AppFabric installation error

While trying to set up a SharePoint 2013 machine in my lab for testing OpsMgr dashboards, I ran into this error with installing one of the prerequisites, AppFabric:

AppFabric installation failed because installer MSI returned with error code : 1603

This solution resolved the problem for me. Issue is caused by an extraneous quote at the end of the PSModulePath in Environmental variables. To resolve, as per th resolution posted:

Incorrect path:

C:\Windows\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\Modules\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\PowerShell\Modules"

removing the extraneous " corrected the issue

To change this go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> On the Advanced Tab Select Enviroment Variables -> Under System Variables there is a Variable named PSModulePath, select it -> Click Edit -> Remove trailing "

Credit for solution goes to original poster. Really just keeping this here for my own sanity.
